Kick Polio out of Africa

The Rotary Clubs of District 5220 are being asked to help “Kick Polio Out of Africa” by participating in and helping fund a National Immunization Day (NID) in the country of Benin, Africa.  We expect the NID to take place in March of 2008, with the final dates to be set by the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control.  More details and information on how to join the team traveling to Africa and the final dates will be coming soon.

The NID will be funded through participation and support of  “The Rotary Trivia Challenge”, a competition of District Rotary Club teams to determine the #1 Rotary Trivia knowledge Club in the District.  All Clubs, large and small, are equal in size when it comes to the competition. Ask your members, are you smarter than the average Rotarian, or at least a Past District Governor?  If the answer is yes, you have the makings of a winning team.

Now the exciting part, the Master of Ceremonies and Narrator for “The Rotary Trivia Challenge” will be none other than the author of “The ABC’s  of Rotary, Past Rotary International President, Cliff Dochterman.

The Challenge will take place on January 26, 2008 at the SOS Club in Modesto.  The evening will begin with time to socialize and a casual Italian dinner and end with honoring the #1 Rotary Trivia Challenge Rotary Club of District 5220.

Each District Rotary Club is urged to have one or more 3 person teams for the competition.

The registration fee per team is $500.  All funds raised will go directly to fund the NID.

At this time we are asking you to set up your teams and register for The Rotary Trivia Challenge.  Encourage your club members to attend the dinner and competition to support your team and cheer you on to victory.  It is going to be a great event and lots of fun.
