September is Basic Education and Literacy Month

Students at Monroe Preschool, Monroe Elementary School, and La Vina Elementary School were part of the world-wide celebration of the 50th International Literacy Day on September 8th. Members of Madera Sunrise Rotary read in the classrooms, donated the books we read to the schools, and donated 200 recycled paperbacks to La Vina Elementary School. International Literacy Day was established by UNESCO to bring world-wide attention to the importance of and progress in increasing world-wide literacy.
