District Governor
Jay Hislop 2025-2026

Jay joined the Rotary Club of North Stockton in 1984 and transferred to the Rotary Club of Stockton in July of 2022. He has served in every club committee chair and board position except treasurer, and is Past President of two clubs.
Jay enjoys the many opportunities for service to his club, to District 5220 and his
community.
Jay and his wife Gail’s first RI Convention in Seoul, S. Korea in 2016 was an experience that opened their eyes and hearts to the BIG world of Rotary INTERNATIONAL. Also, in 2016 Jay attended World Polio Day and the West Africa Project Fair in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. There he met dedicated Rotarians with a passion for service that he had truly not experienced before. He attended the West Africa Project Fair in Liberia in 2018, and a World Polio Day trip to Pakistan.
Based upon Rotary friendships made during travels, Jay has helped several clubs become an international partner in four major Global Grants. Jay and Gail have been married for 53 years. They have two adult daughters and a granddaughter. Jay is a retired dentist and an “almost retired” attorney. His latest vocational calling is fine art, and he paints in watercolor and oil. In his free time, Jay likes to read, is an avid skier, a weak cyclist, fair swimmer, former
backpacker and mountaineer, enthusiastic fisherman, successful hunter, and all-around outdoorsman.
Jay’s motto in life, in the words of one of his favorite story teller, Jimmy Buffet, is, “I’d rather die while I’m living, than live while I’m dead…” Jay’s purpose in Rotary is to raise understanding of the meaning of “International Service,” and to plan, promote, and provide projects that are meaningful, effective and sustainable on a global scale. The 2025-2026 RI Theme is Unite for Good.
